FAQ Small Cats Symposium 2026

1. What is the Small Cats Symposium?

The Small Cats Symposium is an international virtual event bringing together researchers, conservationists, students, and wildlife professionals dedicated to advancing the science and conservation of the world’s small wild cat species. The symposium provides a platform for sharing research, discussing conservation strategies, and fostering global collaboration.

 

2. When will the symposium take place?

The event will be held from the 3 to the 6th of March 2026. All sessions will be hosted online, making it accessible worldwide.

 

3. Who can attend?

Attendance is open to:
• Researchers and academics
• Conservation practitioners
• Wildlife professionals
• Students in relevant fields
The event is not intended for the general public, but for individuals working in or studying ecology, conservation, or wildlife science.

 

4. Is there a registration fee and how do I register?

Yes — but with equity in mind:
• Participants from high-income countries (as established by the World Bank’s country income classification): Standard registration fee (100$).
• Participants from low-, lower middle-income and upper middle countries (as established by the World Bank’s country income classification): Free registration.

5. Will attendees receive a certificate of participation?

No, the symposium does not provide certificates of participation.

 

6. How do I submit an abstract?

Abstract submissions open 10 November 2025.
You will be able to submit through the Submissions page, please review the submission guidelines.
Participants can submit more than one abstract.

 

7. What types of contributions are accepted?

We welcome:
• Research presentations
• Conservation project case studies
• Ecological or behavioral research
• Genetic and molecular studies
• Threat assessments or mitigation approaches
• Interdisciplinary perspectives
Early-career researchers and contributions from underrepresented regions are especially encouraged.

 

8. What time zone will sessions follow?

Designed for worldwide participation, the symposium will run sessions at different start times each day to accommodate all time zones.

 

9. What language will the event use?

The event will be conducted in English and presenters are required to submit all materials in English. Translation services won’t be provided.

 

10. Will session recordings be available after the event?

Yes. Recordings will be stored in the new Archive section of the website so those and digital materials will be available after the symposium.
